Spaced fluting on the router desk

I not too long ago made some solid-wood cupboard doorways which have
vertical flutes throughout their whole faces, and got here up with a
good technique for fluting on the router desk. To make the
extensive doorways, I fluted a collection of boards, after which edge-glued
them. However the next method will work simply as properly
for single boards with any fluting sample. Begin by chopping
small spacers which are equal to the center-to-center distance
between the flutes. Then lower a straight board to behave as a
secondary fence. Place this fence proper behind the principle one,
and place them to chop the middle flute within the array. To
place the principle fence for the subsequent two flutes—one on every
facet of the middle one—depart the secondary fence the place it
is, and insert spacers between it and the principle fence. Then
run the board in each instructions to chop the 2 new flutes.
Preserve including spacers for every new pair of flutes. You’ll be able to
depart your workpiece a bit extensive to accommodate any
misalignment, trimming it later to middle the fluted space.
